Next time you are looking through your kitchen cupboards, take a moment to see them from a new perspective! Art is all around us and even in the small items we may use on a daily basis. Edinburgh artist, Michael Youds, has done just that in his latest project to capture the beauty of branded products.
Michael has painted popular, well-known condiments, sauces, spreads and cereal on canvas and the result is very special. This collection is currently on display at Marchmont Gallery and is worth a look soon. The paintings would look great in a kitchen or even on the wall of a local café.
Michael Youds graduated in 2005 with a first class degree in Fine Art and Integrated Media from Lancaster University where he won the Agnes Eccles award for the most promising artist. He is now based in Edinburgh, where his paintings have recently been selected for exhibitions at the Royal Scottish Academy and Visual Arts Scotland. He has received commissions from MP Jack Straw and John Leighton, Director General of the National Galleries of Scotland and has paintings in several private collections including the Walter Scott investment company’s art collection.
The Marchmont Gallery is close to the Meadows so perfect to drop by on your lunch hour or on your way home from work.
